Biography

Tung Nguyen received the Diploma degree in computer science (Dipl.-Inf.) from the Technical University of Berlin (TUB), Berlin, Germany, in 2008. He joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI), Berlin in 2009.

Since that time, he has worked as a Research Associate, and his current association within the HHI is the Image and Video Coding Group of the Video Coding and Analytics Department. From 2009 to 2015, he actively participated in the standardization activity of the Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding (JCT-VC). He successfully contributed as a member of the JCT-VC on the topic of entropy coding for the development of HEVC, Version 1. He is also one of the main contributors of the Cross-Component Prediction scheme for the Range Extensions in Version 2 of HEVC. His current research interests include image and video processing and their efficient implementation.
